Final Corbin Community Yard Sale of the season set for Saturday

Whether you are looking for a bargain or attempting to convince bargain hunters that your stuff can be their stuff, Corbin’s final city yard sale of 2017 offers the opportunity.

The monthly event will wrap up its season Saturday.

Corbin Downtown Manager Andy Salmons said the event, held on Depot Street between Fourth and Gordon streets, is wrapping up its fourth season.

“We have seen as many as 80 vendors and up to 600 people attend some of the sales this year,” Salmons said.

Salmons added that it is not too late for anyone looking to get rid of some items, to plan on setting up at the yard sale.

Setup begins at 7 a.m. with space available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Setup is free.

“There is still plenty of room for more vendors,” Salmons said adding that he is pleased with the way it has grown and the vendors have taken ownership of the event that began in 2013.

The selling begins at 8 a.m. with things winding down about 2 p.m.

Salmons said in addition to providing a central location for the buyers and sellers, the yard sale had benefited the downtown merchants.
“It has been really effective at exposing what downtown has to offer to a lot of people that otherwise wouldn’t come down here,” Salmons said.

For those considering participating in the yard sale in 2018, Salmons said the first one is scheduled for April 7.

“There are always things you can do to make it better, but we are in a place now with the yard sale where we just want to let it grow,” Salmons said.
