Ernest L. Johnson

Ernest L. Johnson, 90, of Shelbyville passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018.

Born December 30, 1927, in Knox County, he was the son of the late James L. and Velvia Johnson.

A kind man, he was always willing to offer a helping hand.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and retired from the automobile industry as a metal finisher.

In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Mae Johnson; son, David Johnson; and three sisters: Marie, Alice, and Pauline.

He leaves behind two sons: Kevin Johnson and wife Petra and Larry Johnson; two grandchildren: Elizabeth Johnson Berry and Brittany Johnson; two great grandchildren:

Connor Johnson and Jackson Berry; and nine siblings; and other relatives and numerous friends.

He will be deeply missed.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 9, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rodney Edwards officiating.

Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post 88.
