Elza C. Taylor

Elza C. Taylor, age 96, formerly of Corbin, KY passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Laurel Heights Home for the Elderly in London.
Born in Whitley County, KY, he was a son of the late Leslie and Flora Ward Taylor. A brother Arthur Taylor and sister Eula Yeary, along with his wife Vivian Hickey Taylor, also preceded him in death.
Elza was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He had been a production worker for General Motors at Dayton, OH and after returning to Corbin, belonged to Central Baptist Church. He was a hard-working man and enjoyed gardening.
His surviving family includes two daughters, Elaine Rickett (Jerry) of Corbin and Pam Lovelace (Mike) of LaGrange, KY; four grandchildren, Shannon Rickett, Todd Rickett (Ann Marie), Ryan Lovelace, and Brendan Lovelace (Anna), all of Louisville, KY; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Rickett, Calvin Rickett, and Joseph Rickett; two brothers, Arliss Taylor of Georgetown, KY and Herman Taylor of Ohio; a sister-in-law, Helen Bradley of Corbin; and other family members and friends.
Friends may call at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home after 1:00pm on Sunday, March 5, 2023.
The funeral service will follow there at 2:00pm with Rev. Terrell Bradley and Shannon Rickett officiating.
Interment will be at Sutton-Pemberton Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Honor Guard.
