Down with the signs and anxiety level
Now you know who won. The anxiety level for the candidates can come down now as well as their many signs that cover the landscape.

You have to admire all who ran for office. It is a tough thing to do. I did it once, but never again for me. I know what they have been through.
Congratulations to the winners and now on to the general election in the fall. At that time we will weed out city and a few other races. But now for the most part, the primary has produced the winners of the county races.
Our news editor, Mark White, is glad to see the election come to an end. He has worked extra hard to see that you, the voters, are informed. He contacted the candidates and published articles about them.
*On another subject I have been contacted by a couple of people about the dogs and cats running loose in the city of Corbin. If you will remember a few weeks ago a person was bitten by a dog and city officials promised to do something about the situation.
Two weeks ago a person called me and said there were two big dogs staring her in the face when she walked out on her sidewalk. Also, there were four cats running loose and they had almost ruined the cushions on her porch furniture.
She reported this to the city and they told her to call animal control in Williamsburg. She told me she had called them.
Yesterday I called to see if the problem still existed. She said the cats and dogs were still running loose. Another person in east Corbin called and told me that they were experiencing a cat and dog problem.
I imagine that people in about every neighbor have some sort of problem with strays. This is a hard situation to eliminate.
Much of it starts with irresponsible pet owners who do not take proper care of their animals.
I’ve had to run off a gray and a black cat that took a liking to our patio furniture. My neighbor gave me some peppermint oil to use. I think it is working.
But the pet problem is more than the animals running loose. Barking dogs can drive you crazy.
There are several elderly people who live in our neighborhood and the noise is especially hard on them. We have had to encounter the loud sounds of dogs for years.
Until a few months ago there was a baying hound dog that barked day and night. This had gone on for years, but thankfully that particular dog’s barking has ceased.
I don’t believed we will ever have a resolution to these problems. We can only hope that pet owners and elected officials will do their best to control the situation.
*All around Corbin there has been paving of streets and highways. The city has paved streets that had not been touched for 50 or 60 years. The county has done a good job of paving many of our county roads. The state has just finished paving the highway from Corbin to London.
With all that has been done, for some reason those responsible haven’t done anything for years about the condition of Kentucky Street in downtown Corbin and Highway 312 from Gordon and Kentucky to Highway 770. These are state roads.
These roads carry a heavy amount of traffic and have multiple cracks and bumps. It looks bad when Corbin constructs nice sidewalks on Gordon Hill and Highway 312 has one patch spot after another.
Months ago I read an unflattering comment on Facebook from a visitor to Corbin about the condition of the streets. I believe they were commenting about these two areas.
