Dorothy “Dot” Sudie Brooks Faulkner
Dorothy “Dot” Sudie Brooks Faulkner, 89, of Williamsburg, passed away on Sunday, January 1.
She was born on February 21, 1927 on Greasy Creek in Ingram, KY. She graduated Valedictorian of her class from Bell County High School and graduated from both Eastern Kentucky University and Cumberland College.
While attending Cumberland, she met and married the love of her life, Vernon Faulkner, in 1950. Dot earned her interior decorating certificate through correspondence school in New York, and took pride in decorating homes all over the Southeastern Kentucky region through the business she and Vernon owned for 44 years, Faulkner and Taylor Furniture Store.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Williamsburg and a loyal member of the Phyllis Wood Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Bessie Brooks, brothers Leamon, Stevie, and Charles, husband Vernon, and daughter Kathy Lee.
Dot was a loving friend to all and her warmth, compassion and love of life will be missed. She devoted time to making sure every person she met knew how special they were, and loved talking about how much she loved her family: beloved daughter Karen and her husband Mike, and grandchildren Kristin, Melissa, Tyler, and Casey. She will be missed by family members Geraldine Brooks, Sandra Gregory and Roger Brooks, Teresa Brooks, Patricia Melberg, Charles Brooks, Wilma Faulkner, Linda Shelby, Debbie Jeffries, Donald and Cathy Faulkner, Greg Faulkner, Donna Kay Minnich, as well as many other loving friends, relatives, and community members.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, at the First Baptist Church in Williamsburg. The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 7, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Ande Myers officiating.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Smith, Charles Brooks, Roger Brooks, Brance Steely, John Steely, Branden Haines, Josh Haines, Kevin Brooks, and George Lawson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Baptist Church Youth Group.
