Dirt being moved at Cumberland Run location
The Cumberland Run race track is beginning to become a reality in Corbin.

In mid-November, equipment was brought on to the property located at Allison Boulevard off the Corbin Bypass to begin the process of moving dirt.
Southern Kentucky Economic Development Director Bruce Carpenter said the track is expected to open in the early part of 2023.
The date for an official groundbreaking on the track has not been set, but work is moving ahead without the official ceremony.
The Williamsburg counterpart to the Cumberland Run Race Track, the Cumberland Mint, broke ground earlier this year, and it is expected to be completed near the end of 2022.
The facilities are the result of a joint project between Keeneland and Kentucky Downs. Approximately one decade after the project was officially announced, “trotters” are expected to begin racing on the track.
The track was initially designed for quarter horse racing, but in 2020 the design was changed to accommodate harness racing, commonly referred to as “trotters.”
