UPDATED: Tuesday night gunshot wound victims identified by Corbin Police
The Corbin Police Department has released the identities of the man and woman who sustained gunshot wounds Tuesday evening, July 11, outside a residence near the intersection of Scuffeltown Road and Fifth Street Road in Corbin.
The press release states:
On July 11, 2023 at 5:35 p.m., the Corbin Police Department received a call of gunshots in the area of 5th Street Road and Scuffletown Road. Upon officer’s arrival, a black Chevrolet Equinox was found in a ditch on 5th Street. Corbin Police Officers located a male and a female subject approximately 100 feet away in a wooded area. Both subjects had a single gun shot each to their upper torso.
The male was identified as Steward Peace, age 42, and the female was identified as Misty Peace, age 41, both from Corbin. Both subjects were airlifted to University of Kentucky Medical Center. Both are still listed in critical condition.
The investigation into this incident is still ongoing by Detective Robbie Hodge of the Corbin Police Department.

One man and one woman were flown by emergency medical helicopter from Corbin to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington Tuesday evening after sustaining gunshot wounds. Corbin Police Detective Robbie Hodge, who is investigating the case, said that they were both listed in critical condition as of about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Not much is known about events that led to the victims sustaining the gunshot wounds, and the identities have not yet been released to the public, but Hodge did confirm that the incident occurred outside a residence located near the intersection of Scuffletown Road and Fifth Street Road (KY-727) in Corbin.
According to Hodge, authorities were alerted to the scene after a 911 call was placed around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Assisting Hodge at the scene were other officers including Lt. David Lassiter and Lt. Wayne Bird with the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, and Williamsburg Police Officer Dorman Patrick, Jr.
