Denver Lake
Denver Lake, beloved husband and father passed away at his home on Thursday, June 15th, 2017.
Denver was born October 6th, 1939 in the Goldens Creek Community to the late Reed Lake and Leona Mahan Lake. He was also preceded in death by his brother Edwin “Pete” Lake.
He graduated from Poplar Creek High School in 1958. He joined the Army directly out of high school and served our country for four years in active duty.
Denver married the love of his life, Wanda Joyce Faulkner Lake on September 30th, 1961.
Denver was a devoted member of the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge 490.
He was an active member and a deacon of Locust Grove Baptist Church where he loved to engage with the congregation over jokes and laughter.
He loved his family and friends dearly and never met a stranger.
Denver and Wanda have two wonderful children and daughter-in-law, Penney Denese Lake and Denver Scott Lake and wife Angelia; three special granddaughters and grandson-in-law, Lauren Watkins Cloud and husband Justin, Victoria Watkins Gillespie, and Isabella Faith Lake, and three beautiful great-granddaughters, Adelyn Cloud, Allyson Cloud, and Olivia Gillespie.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Locust Grove Baptist Church on Highway 1809 in Goldens Creek with Rev. Larry Carte and Rev. Randy Douglas officiating.
Burial was held immediately following the service at the Faulkner-Mayne Cemetery.
