Daughters recognize Women in History month
The Wm. Whitley Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Saturday, February 13, 2009, in the Community Service Room of the Whitley County Library.
March is Women In History month, and Laurel Fuson, Chapter Vice Regent, gave the program recognizing Women taking the lead to save our planet. Among the 100 women honored Nationally for their accomplishments in the environmental movement were three Kentucky Women: Mary E. Wharton, Sally Brown, and Lucy Braun.
Hostesses Babe and Laurel Fuson served delicious birthday cakes, a February tradition, recognizing Babe’s birthday. Babe also recognized several other DAR members who had February birthdays.
The next meeting is Saturday March 14th, 2009 at noon and the Williamsburg Elementary School Fifth grade American History Essy Contest Finalists and their families will be the honored guests at an awards ceremony and reception.
We welcome membership inquiries. Call Rebecca Gibson, registrar at 549-2979.
