Daniel Boone National Forest fees upped
Daniel Boone National Forest officials are asking for public comments on a proposal to implement or increase fees at multiple recreation sites.
Officials stated that under the proposal fees would be increased at 25 sites with fees being implemented at nine additional sites.
There are currently more than 100 outdoor recreation facilities across 21 counties in the portion of the national forest in eastern Kentucky.
Eleven of the facilities are located in the London Ranger District.
Those facilities and the proposed fees/increases include:
- S-tree Rec. Area (Campground) – Single $15; Double $20
- Bee Rock Boating (Boating Site) – Daily $5; 3-Day $7; Annual $50
- Bee Rock Rec. Area (Campground) – Daily from $8 to $15; Two-Day from $12 to $20
- Flatwoods (Boating Site) – Daily from $3 to $5; 3-Day from $5 to $7; Annual from $30 to $50
- Craig’s Creek (Boating Site) – Daily $5; 3-Day $7; Annual $50
- Holly Bay (Boating Site) — Daily from $3 to $5; 3-Day from $5 to $7; Annual from $30 to $50
- Marsh Branch (Boating Site) – Daily from $3 to $5; 3-Day from $5 to $7; Annual from $30 to $50
- Whitman Branch (Target Range) – Daily $5; 3-Day $7; Annual $50
- Leatherwood (Boating Site) – Daily $5; 3-Day $7; Annual $50
- Grove Boat Ramp (Boating Site) – Daily from $3 to $5; 3-Day from $5 to $7; Annual from $30 to $50
- Laurel Bridge Boating (Boating Site) – Daily from $3 to $5; 3-Day from $5 to $7; Annual from $30 to $50
“The proposal would enable the agency to improve facilities and services at these sites and create prices consistent with comparable facilities on public and private lands,” officials stated.
“We welcome more than a million visitors each year and have upgraded and improved many of our recreation fee sites,” said Forest Supervisor Dan Olsen.
“These fee changes will help ensure these outdoor opportunities are available for years to come and our recreation areas are maintained at a standard that our visitors expect,” he said.
