Cumberlands Music Department to hold 42nd Madrigal Dinner
The University of the Cumberlands Chamber Choir, accompanied by Kay Dawn McFarland on the piano, will present the 42nd Madrigal Dinner on December 3, 4 and 5 in the T.J. Roberts Dining Hall on campus.
The centerpiece of UC’s holiday celebrations, the Madrigal Dinner will feature Chamber Choir members, decked out in medieval garb, as they re-enact Christmas revels of the distant past. While Guests enjoy a four-course meal, the choir will present music and entertainment of the period. The Flute Choir and the Brass Ensemble will also perform. Highlights of the festivities will include the traditional entrance of the boar’s head and the Wassail toast. Following dinner, the choir will present a concert of seasonal music.
The Madrigal Dinner, a tradition begun by Dr. Harold Wortman in 1967, is one of the oldest and most popular events at UC. The doors of the T.J. Roberts Dining Hall will open at 6:30 p.m. on each performance evening. Ticket sales are in progress, and because seating is limited, interested persons should call 606-539-4332 for ticket or reservation information.
