Cumberland Falls again named best long weekend getaway
Once again Cumberland Falls State Resort Park has made Kentucky Living’s Best in Kentucky winners list.
For the second consecutive year, Cumberland Falls at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park has taken home the first place award in the best long weekend getaway category.
Cumberland Falls is one of four state parks recognized as part of this year’s Kentucky Living 2022 Best in Kentucky awards highlighting the best travel destinations and experiences across the commonwealth.
“Kentucky State Parks offer adventure for visitors of all ages and a with a variety of interests” said Gov. Andy Beshear. “From camping, hiking and boating to golfing or weekend getaways – and even a bit of history – we guarantee that if you visit a state park, you will not be disappointed.”
Since the awards began 13 years ago, Kentucky Living readers have annually cast votes to choose their favorites in categories ranging from food and beverages to destinations and outdoor activities.
Green River Lake at Green River Lake State Park in Campbellsville took home the first place award for best camping spot.
Barren River Lake at Barren River Lake State Resort Park in Lucas took second place for best public hunting/fishing area.
My Old Kentucky Home State Park in Bardstown took second place for best historic site.
Barren River Lake at Barren River Lake State Resort Park also took third place for best house boating.
“It is an honor to have our state parks recognized as part of this year’s Best in Kentucky awards,” said Commissioner Russ Meyer. “We’re thrilled for the recognition. From outdoor adventures to historical experiences, our parks truly have something for everybody.”
Kentucky is home to 45 state parks, including 17 resort parks and 13 golf courses.
Cumberland Falls State Resort Park is already in Kentucky Living’s Hall of Fame for scenic view.
“Proven favorites enter Kentucky Living’s Best in Kentucky Hall of Fame by winning first place for three consecutive years. Once in the Hall of Fame, always in the Hall of Fame,” Kentucky Living noted previously on its website.
