CSX employee arrested for having child pornography
A member of upper management at the CSX Corbin yard has been arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography.
Fifty-three-year-old David B. Haas was arrested Wednesday night following an investigation by Kentucky State Police.
According to Detective Justin Oliver, state police received a complaint from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children concerning child pornography.
Based on the information provided, police secured a search warrant for Haas’ home and to seize electronic equipment and storage devices located at the residence.
“Images of child sexual exploitation were located on a device seized from the residence of David Haas,” Oliver wrote in the arrest citation.
Haas was charged with one count of possession/view of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
Multiple sources at CSX in Corbin confirmed Haas is a trainmaster at the Corbin facility.
Haas was released from jail Thursday morning on a $10,000 cash bond.
Haas pleaded not guilty to the charge and is scheduled to return to court September 27 for a preliminary hearing to determine whether there is probable cause to present the case to a Laurel County Grand Jury.
Under Kentucky Law, possession of child pornography is a Class D felony, carrying a potential prison sentence of one to five years.
