Couple gets married in Corbin toy store

Superman, Batman and My Little Pony were among the witnesses to a unique wedding Thursday in Corbin as Troy Milligan and Christin Sifuentes tied the knot at Max’s Toys and Games on Main Street.
The couple was surrounded by family members, including daughter Gwendolyn as Shepherd Michael Jackson joined them in matrimony.
“We come here all the time,” Sifuentes said when asked why they wanted to get married in the toy store. “We love this place.”
“It represents who we are,” Milligan added.
The couple said they regularly purchase a variety of comic books from the store, noting their tastes are drawn to Japanese Manga style and independent titles as opposed to the ultra popular DC and Marvel characters.
Except for the background, the wedding was simple as Shepherd Michael Jackson used the traditional marriage vows.
Store owner Shannon Ferrell admitted it was an odd request when the couple approached him about hosting the wedding. He agreed and even closed the store to customers during the service.
“It is a great thing for the store,” said Ferrell who has been in business since July. “I think they really appreciated it.
Sifuentes added that family members on both sides saw the site as appropriate given the couple’s love of comics and games.
“Our friends were excited about it,” Sifuentes said of the idea.
Ferrell said he posted pictures of the wedding on the store’s Facebook page and the response has been positive. While there haven’t been anymore request to host a wedding at the store, Ferrell did not discount the idea, noting the pictures drew a lot of likes and some positive comments.
