Country music star Lee Brice talks about upcoming show in Corbin

Lee Brice will be playing at the Corbin Arena Saturday along with fellow country music start Chris Young.
The Arena in Corbin will welcome two of country music’s up-and-coming performers Saturday night when Chris Young and Lee Brice take to the stage.
Young has been on the charts with his single, “Lonely Eyes,” from his fourth album, “A.M.”
This won’t be the first appearance in Corbin for the Nashville, Tenn. native. He opened for Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert in 2011.
“Everyone I know that has played Corbin has enjoyed it,” Young said, adding he is excited to be back as part of the headline act.
Brice, who is promoting his album, “I Don’t Dance,” the title tract of which was recently nominated for Single of the Year by the Academy of Country Music. His current single, “Drinking Class,” has reached the top 15 and is continuing to climb the country music charts.
"All I really want is for fans to love the show and everyone to have a great time,” Brice said. “They spend their hard-earned money on these shows, and we want to make it worth it for them and leave them feeling like they’ve just seen a great show."
Young said while he continues to play mid-level arenas with a capacity of 5,000 to 10,000, the fact that he is part of the headline act and the events are at or near capacity makes it an exciting time for him.
“Right now the cool part is that it is me and Lee and people are coming and selling it out,” Young said.
Other stops on the tour with Brice include Bloomington, Ill., La Crosse, Wisc. And two dates in Hawaii.
“My band and crew guys are like, ‘This is awesome,’” he said.
Young added that he is happy that is career has grown slowly and steadily instead of rocketing, noting it has been easier to adjust to the fame.
“I really didn’t have a first hit until the second record and then I had a string of hits,” Young said. “It has been interesting to me.”
In addition, Young has considered what he might be doing if he wasn’t singing for a living.
Though he offered praise for the people who work construction for a living, Young said it is probably fortunate for the people he would be working for that the singing thing worked out.
“I wouldn’t be very good at construction,” Young admitted.
Young said in addition he has family and friends that he is close to who have helped keep him grounded.
In between concert dates, Young said he is either working on writing songs for upcoming records or spending time with family and friends.
Spending time with the family includes time with dad with a fishing pole in hand.
“We have branched out to fly fishing and going out in the bay,” Young said. “I love being out on a boat and trying to catch fish.”
Young said among the things he has gotten to do because of music playing The Grand Ole Opry and being nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year rank near the top along with his six number-one records.
“We have been to Australia and Europe. Young said. “It is so cool to go to another place and play country music and the crowd loves it.”
As to Saturday in Corbin, Young said the crowd should be prepared for a whole lot of show.
“Come early, stay late and enjoy some music,” Young said.
