Corbin’s Christmas Open House a success

Several hundred people visited downtown Corbin Sunday for the city’s Christmas Open House.
The event marks the kickoff for holiday shopping in Corbin.
“Christmas Open House was such an incredible time! Not only was it the perfect way to kick off the holiday shopping season in Downtown Corbin, it was so great to see people come together to enjoy the community,” said Corbin Downtown Manager Maggy Monhollen.
Vendors ranged from soap makers to wood workers.
The Corbin High School Band was on hand to perform as small ensembles during the event.
Corbin’s next holiday celebration kicks off Dec. 4 with the Christmas parade and opening of the ice-skating rink.
Lineup for the parade will be at 6 p.m. at Corbin City Hall.
The parade will begin at 7 p.m. and travel from City Hall to Gordon Hill.
Pre-parade activities will begin in NIBROC Park at 5 p.m. Activities will include meeting Santa, Christmas crafts, cards for a soldier and free hot chocolate.
Continuing with the holiday spirit, the ice-skating rink will open at noon on Dec. 4.
The ice rink will be open on Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 4 to 10 p.m.
The rink will be open Dec. 4 through Dec. 11.
There will be free admission on Dec. 4 to the rink, but all other days will be $5 per person for 30 minutes.
