Corbin woman arrested on drug charges after crashing into state police officer
Police say a Corbin woman, who backed into a parked vehicle belonging to an off duty Kentucky State Police officer, was under the influence of drugs when the accident happened.
Felicia J. Loomis, 29, of Corbin (also listed as Felicia Sellards on an accident report) faces numerous traffic and drug related charges following the incident Thursday.
According to Corbin Police, a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, owned by Kentucky State Police Sgt. Steve Walker, was parked in a parking lot located at the corner of Sixth and Kentucky Streets when Loomis, driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, backed into Walker’s vehicle and attempted to drive away. Walker successfully prevent her from leaving the lot by blocking her in with his vehicle, according to the accident report. Loomis told police she thought she had hit a utility pole and did not need to stop.
After police arrived, Loomis failed all field sobriety tests and she was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs. Authorities searched her vehicle and allegedly discovered several controlled substances, including hydrocodone. She was also charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, no insurance, driving on an expried license and for having expired tags and registration.
Loomis was arrested and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center. Authorities say no on was injured in the crash. Loomis was only traveling one to two mph when the accident ocurred.
Corbin Police Department Patrolman Jeff Hill is continuing an investigation into the accident.
