A Corbin woman was arrested Thursday for allegedly trying to shoplift a chainsaw, shoes, two phones and a purse from Walmart.
According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Walmart Loss Prevention detained 27-year old Mary Gabbard at 1:18 a.m. after she tried to leave the store with the items valued at $381.
Gabbard allegedly removed the stuffing from the purse and hid the phones inside.
“She put the other items in a cart and just tried to leave the store without paying for them,” said Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer.
Gabbard was charged with one count of theft by unlawful taking of the value under $500 and lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Facility.
