Corbin woman among three arrested in connection with threats to Knox County Schools

A Corbin woman was one of three individuals arrested in connection with social media threats aimed at Knox County Schools.

Kentucky State Police arrested 19-year-old Megan Scott of Corbin, a student at Knox County High School, along with a 13-year-old female who attends Knox County Middle School and a 16-year-old female who attends Knox County Learning academy.

Trooper Shane Jacobs, Public Affairs Officer at Post 10 in Harlan, said the juveniles made the treats in the hopes of school being cancelled.

“Ms. Scott was aware of the threats and failed to notify authorities,” Jacobs stated in explaining her involvement.

State police and the Barbourville Police began receiving calls about 2 p.m. concerning the posts.

According to a screenshot of the threat captured by The Mountain Advocate, the poster stated he/she, “was going to have a 30 kill streak and more will happens soon and if you cancel school I’ll wait till there is school I’m getting revenge.”

The juveniles are each charged with second-degree terroristic threatening.

Scott is charged with complicity to terroristic threatening.

Knox County Schools are closed today because of flash flooding.
