Corbin teen seriously injured after being hit by vehicle on Master Street

A Corbin teen was seriously injured Sunday night when he was hit by a vehicle while crossing Master Street.
Seventeen-year-old Brandon Isom suffered a broken left leg after he was hit by a van. According to his sister, Isom was crossing Master Street near Little Ceasar’s at around 7:45 p.m. Sunday. She said he did not see the oncoming van that ended up hitting him.
She added he was apparently crossing the street to talk to his grandmother.
Corbin Police are investigating the accident. Isom’s injuries are not expected to be life threatening.
According to Rob Jones, Public Affairs Officer for the Corbin Police Department, Isom appeared to be “under the influence” of alcohol at the time of the accident.
“I can’t say that definitively because we didn’t get a chance to test him, but he appeared drunk to the officer at the scene,” Jones said.
Officer Steve Meadors is investigating the case.
Isom was transported by ambulance to Campbell Field where he was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment.
According to police, Isom’s mother, 39-year-old Denise Lamb, of Corbin, was later arrested for endangering the welfare of a minor because she was drunk when authorities went to her home to notify her of the injury to her son.
“She was laying on the floor drunk when Meadors got there,” Jones said.
Jones added police believe Lamb was drinking alcohol with her son before the accident.
The Corbin Fire Department assisted at the scene.
