Corbin Speedway will finish race season; future uncertain
With six weeks remaining in the season, the man, who brought racing back to the Corbin Speedway, said it remains to be seen if racing will return in 2017.
“I’ve got it on my mind,” said Jerry Brock, who reached an agreement in March on a one-year lease of the facility.
Brock said the weekly Saturday night races have brought out 20 to 25 cars and 100 to 200 fans in the grandstands to the track on Cumberland Falls Highway.
“We’ve had some good races and some pretty good turnouts,” Brock said. “It ain’t as good as it should have been.”
Brock has the track leased through October, leaving six nights of racing on the schedule and he plans to have racing on each of those nights.
“I’ve had a lot of fun,” Brock said. “It has been an experience.”
Brock said prices would remain the same. $10 per person to get in the grandstands and $30 to get in the pits and he is encouraging anyone interested to come out.
More information about dates and times may be found on the Corbin Speedway Facebook Page.
“I want to thank all of the racers and fans that have come out and supported us this year,” Brock said.
