Corbin Schools accepting donations to aid victims of western Kentucky tornadoes
Corbin Independent Schools is collecting items to help the people of western Kentucky who were hit by a string of tornadoes Friday and into Saturday.
Items are being collected at each facility through Wednesday morning.
Cash and gift cards may be brought to the central office, middle or high school, or given to any school board member.
“They are specifically requesting Walmart or Kroger gift cards,” said Superintendent Dave Cox.
The primary and preschool are accepting hygiene products, including: toothpaste, toothbrushes, other toiletry items and hand sanitizer.
The elementary school, school of innovation and alternative schools are accepting paper products, such as tissues, toilet paper, paper towels, napkins and paper plates.
Cox said the donated items will be collected at noon and taken to the Southeast/South Central Cooperative in London for transport to western Kentucky.
