Corbin School Board member Angela Morris attends final meeting

After eight years of service, Corbin Board of Education member Angela Morris took her final bow at the board’s regular meeting last Thursday.

Morris, whose family is relocating to Illinois, did not seek re-election in the November election.

“It has been pretty amazing having my good friend on the board,” said Board Chair Kim Croley.

“Most importantly is that Angela is really good at making us always see both sides of an issue and that is an important thing,” Croley said. “We should never just go along because that’s the way we have always done things.”

Croley presented Morris with a plaque recognizing her service to Corbin Independent Schools.

Corbin Schools Superintendent Dave Cox offered his thanks to Morris, adding that she helped make his transition from assistant superintendent to superintendent very smooth.

“It is certainly a stressful time when you start a new job and I appreciate your efforts,” Cox said.

Cox echoed what Croley had said about Morris.

“If you don’t want a straight answer, don’t ask Angela because she will tell you exactly what she is thinking,” Cox explained adding that is a good thing for a superintendent to have in school board members.

Morris announced in August that she would not seek re-election.

Dr. Keith Gibson, who ran unopposed, will take Morris’ seat on the board.
