Corbin Rolls
The Corbin Redhounds and Williamsburg Yellow Jackets were big winners in Friday night action. Corbin turned back the Colonels of Whitley County, 83-62 with a strong fourth quarter finish from senior Josh Hamlin.
At Williamsburg senior guard Michael McCray had a career high 39 points in leading the Jackets to a 80-60 win over the Jellico Blue Devils.

The Redhounds (10-4) had their way with the Colonels (4-9) in the first half, jumping out to a 22-6 lead in the first quarter. The ‘Hounds led 38-23 at the half but extended the score to 55-33 in the first four minutes of the third period.
But, a rally by the Colonels saw Whitley County pull within eight (57-49) when Jamie Lebanion had a three point play with 1:22 left in the period.
Lebanion, who finished with 24 points, started a 14-2 run that saw the Colonels open some eyes in Gilliam Gym.
Junior Jordan McCumbers also had a say in the rally as he hit two three point goals and added a basket in the paint.
However, Hamlin took over the game in the fourth quarter. After an Isaac Wilson lay-up pushed the lead back to ten, Hamlin hit back to back three pointers as Corbin took a 65-49 lead.
Whitley County scored only two baskets in the first four minutes, one by Lebanion and the other by Jacob Lowrie while Corbin went on a 11-2 run. Hamlin scored 11 of his 15 points in the quarter.
Junior Deke Barley led the Redhounds with 19 points as four Corbin players hit double figures. Josh Crawford finished with 17 points and Josh Smith added 14 points.
Besides Lebanion’s 21 points, McCumbers finished with 14 points and Zach Powers added 12 points.
Williamsburg 80-60
The Jackets eased out to a 16-10 lead then took command in winning over Jellico. The Devils kept it close in the first quarter and trailed 11-10 when Gabe Webb scored from close range. But, a basket by Adam Teague and a three pointer by Steve Taylor allowed the Jackets a 16-10 lead at the end of one.
Ben Mitchell helped pull the Devils within three (20-17) before Williamsburg scored nine of the next 11 points, taking a 29-19 lead on a McCray basket.
Jellico fought back and pulled within five (33-28) on a Dexter Fitzpatrick hoop. Aaron Cunningham’s three pointer at the end of the quarter sent the Jackets to the dressing room with a 38-29 lead.
McCray took over in the third quarter as the Jackets took a 15-point lead (50-35) on his three pointer with 4:13 in the quarter. McCray had 18 of his 39 points in the third period. Williamsburg led 61-48 entering the final frame.
Leading 70-58 after a Webb basket, Williamsburg scored the next eight points. Teague hit a pair of free throws and McCray had three straight baskets giving the Jackets a 78-58 lead.
Teague finished the game with 13 points while four Jellico players finished in double digits. Mitchell led the way with 20 points while Fitzpatrick added 14 points. Lay and Webb notched 11 and 10 points respectively.
Williamsburg’s game with OBI last night was postponed. The Jackets will head up to Whitley County Friday.
