Corbin residents indicted for stealing copper, truck batteries from sawmill
A Knox County grand jury indicted three Corbin residents in connection with the theft of copper and truck batteries from a local sawmill.
Gracie Gabbard, 40, Christopher Carter, 40, and Jonathan Lee Jones, were each indicted Friday on charges of theft by unlawful taking of the value of $10,000 or more and first-degree criminal mischief.
According to the indictment, on Dec. 16, the trio allegedly took the copper from refrigeration units at William Smith’s sawmill off of Ky. 3436.
“The units were brand new and still in crates located outside the warehouse,” stated Kentucky State Police Trooper Shane Jacobs, public affairs officer at Post 10 in Harlan.

None of the defendants appeared in Knox Circuit Court Friday for the return of indictments. As a result, indictment arrest warrants have been issued for each.
A status hearing has been scheduled for May 22.
Under Kentucky Law, TBUT over $10,000 is a class C felony carrying a potential prison sentence of five to 10 years.
The grand jury also returned the following indictments:
• Ricky G. Owens, 52, Corbin, first-degree trafficking a controlled substance
• Marcus Lunsford, Jr., 54, Corbin, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance
• Michael Adams, 44, Gray, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance – second offense and second-degree persistent felony offender
• Roseanna Rainwater, 25, Corbin, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and trafficking in a simulated controlled substance
• Joseph Rainwater, 27, Corbin, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and trafficking in a simulated controlled substance
• Billy Lowe, 36, Gray, manufacturing methamphetamine, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance in an improper container, possession of drug paraphernalia, third-degree possession of a controlled substance and first-degree persistent felony offender
• Dale Edward Valentine, 34, Gray, manufacturing methamphetamine, fourth-degree controlled substance endangerment to a child (three counts), possession of drug paraphernalia and first-degree persistent felony offender
• Raymond Goss, 29, Gray, manufacturing methamphetamine, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia
• Erica Bowdler, 26, Gray, manufacturing methamphetamine, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia
• Charles Smith, Jr., 44, Williamsburg, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, third-degree possession of a controlled substance, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, giving an police officer a false name or address and possession of drug paraphernalia
• Henderson Day, III, 35, Corbin, flagrant non support
• Jonah Johnson, 26, Corbin, first-degree bailjumping
