Corbin Police use spike strips to end high-speed chase

Corbin Police brought a high-speed chase on U.S. 25W to an end Wednesday morning with the use of spike strips.
Major Rob Jones’ the department’s public affairs officer, said police received a request from Kentucky State Police who were pursuing 20-year-old Patrick McIntosh of Somerset north on U.S. 25W.
“The chase started somewhere in Williamsburg about 12:30 a.m.,” Jones said.
As the chase approached the Corbin City Limits, Jones said Officer Wade Mitchell set up a set of spike strips on Cumberland Falls Hwy. near Holloway Drive.
Jones said McIntosh hit the stripes, flatting two of the tires on his vehicle.
Officer Ken Proffitt deployed a second set of spike strips near the intersection of 5th Street Road.
“Proffitt got the other tires and the car finally gave out near Leisure Time Hobbies,” Jones said.
Kentucky State Police were there to take McIntosh into custody. He was charged with speeding – 26 mph or greater over the limit, rear license not illuminated, failure to or improper signal, reckless driving, improperly on left side of the road, first-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, carrying a concealed weapon, driving on suspended or revoked operator’s license, failure to wear seat belts, failure to appear, two counts of probation violation and two counts of third-degree criminal mischief.
McIntosh is being held in the Whitley County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.

Yes the boy did wrong but cop beating is something else. I know for a fact this does happen. This is not recent but cops stopped a member of my family on 25w and one cop was beating him with that billy stick or what ever they call it. They were doing a good job beating him and a State Trooper came along and stopped the beating and got the boy himself.I know that trooper and hes one of the good guys.

I’m this child’s mother. I agree what he done was wrong. But I also agree that he didn’t deserve to be held by one officer and beat by the other 3. Then when asked to stop officers replied we will stop when we get ready not when you tell us to.
