Corbin Police investigating multiple burglaries at downtown business
Corbin Police are seeking the public’s help to identify the individuals believed to have burglarized a downtown Corbin business twice in as many weeks.
Hippie at Heart, located at 511 South Main Street, was targeted most recently during the early morning of May 1.
Video surveillance of the incident shows a male suspect, wearing a hat and mask, come from behind the counter toward the front of the store where he takes several items from a display case.
The burglar then walks back behind the counter before disappearing from view.
Corbin Police Lt. Coy Wilson, the department’s public affairs officer, said the stolen items include a set of scales along with several smoking pipes.
When the burglars struck the previous week, Wilson said they took an assortment of hemp-based products along with cash.
“We know they came through the ceiling to get into the store, but don’t know how they got into the building,” Wilson said noting Hippie at Heart is located in suite commercial locations.
“The first time, the burglars were wearing long sleeves and hoodies, which gave us nothing to identify them,’ Wilson added. “We could tell from the video that it was the same person involved because he was wearing the same shoes.”
The time stamp on the video indicates the latest burglary occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m.
