Update: Corbin police arrest one in connection with triple homicides

Update: About 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Corbin Police arrested 37-year-old Paul  Brock of Corbin in connection with a triple homicide Saturday afternoon on Ellison Street.

Brock was brought in for questioning Sunday afternoon, which took place at the Corbin Police Department. He was later charged at the police department with three counts of murder. Under Kentucky law, Brock could potentially face the death penalty if convicted on all counts.

So far police haven’t released a motive for the killing.

Corbin Police Capt. Coy Wilson said that Brock admitted being at the residence, but denied any involvement in the murders.

Brock was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.

Corbin Police say they have a person of interest in the case of a fatal shooting at a home on Ellison Street Saturday afternoon.

Corbin Police Captain Coy Wilson, who is leading the investigation, said police are continuing to search for the suspect, whom they are not yet ready to identify.

“We kinda know who it is,” Wilson said.

Police were called to the scene off of North Depot Street about 4:30 p.m. in response to a 911 call reporting a shooting at 102 Ellison Street.

The victims have been identified as 74-year-old Mary Jackson, and her granddaughter, 33-year-old Tiffany Myers.

Wilson confirmed that Myers was pregnant.

Wilson said a single individual entered the home and shot Myers three times and Jackson once with what they believe to be a .38-caliber handgun.

“We didn’t find any shell casings, so we believe it was a revolver,” Wilson said adding Myers and/or Jackson was familiar the perpetrator and had let the individual inside the home.

Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley pronounced Jackson and Myers dead at the scene.

Wilson said Myers’ brother was in a bedroom when the shooting occurred and was able to flee the residence and called 911.

Wilson said police are still working to determine a motive for the shooting.
