Corbin Middle School finalist for PRIDE ‘Campus of the Year’ Award
On Friday, Oct. 30, Corbin Middle School will learn if it won the PRIDE Middle School Campus of the Year Award. The school is one of three finalists for the award.
200 CMS students and three teachers plan to attend the awards ceremony. 3,000 students from 19 counties also will attend. A video about the CMS environmental education program will be featured.
Representatives of the news media are invited to attend the awards ceremony. It will begin at 11 a.m. ET and end by 11:45 a.m. It will be held at the Arena, 192 Corbin Center Drive, Corbin.
The event is not open to the public.
The awards ceremony will be one segment of the PRIDE Envi Youth Conference, and media representatives are invited to attend the entire conference. At 9:30 a.m. ET, conference registration will begin. At 10 a.m., the conference will open with a motivational speaker/entertainer for students and an environmental education workshop for teachers. The awards ceremony will follow. After lunch, the featured speaker will address environmental stewardship and community service. The conference will conclude by 1:30 p.m.
The annual PRIDE Campus of the Year Awards honor elementary, middle, and high schools for environmental education programs that incorporate hands-on learning, are tied to state curriculum guidelines, and show creativity and community involvement.
