Corbin man, three others, arrested for gunpoint robbery
A Corbin man and three other suspects are behind bars for allegedly robbing a victim at gunpoint while claiming to be a police officer.
Randy Turner, 37, of Corbin was arrested Monday morning and charged with first-degree robbery and impersonating a police officer.
Knox Deputy Chard Gregory responded to a call from a victim who said he had been stopped by Turner. According to Gregory’s post-arrest complaint, Turner put a black pistol in the faces of the victims and told them that he was a drug task force officer with UNITE.
The victims also said Turner flashed a badge and then searched them for drugs and money.
Three other people including Terina Garland, 28, Anthony Ellis Penn, 18, and Kendra Jones, 19, all of Barbourville, were all in the vehicle, according to officers.
Jones, the owner of the vehicle, allegedly told police that she was in the back seat of the vehicle when she saw the person who was driving, Turner, get out of the vehicle and put a gun in some people’s faces and rob them.
Jones said that while in the car prior to the incident, Turner talked about robbing the people.
Penn, who also was in the back seat, said he also saw Turner get out of the car and commit the offense. He also supported Jones’s statement that Turner talked about doing the crime before he pulled the victim over.
Garland said she knew nothing about the crime and did not know why the victims identified her as being there.
Turner remains lodged in the Knox Detention Center on $50,000 cash bond. The remaining suspects were placed under $20,000 cash bond each.
All four suspects are set for a preliminary hearing Feb. 8 in Knox District Court.
