Corbin man leads police on foot chase

A Corbin man is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading Kentucky State Police on a foot pursuit through a residence in the Bee Creek area last Thursday night.

Michael Thomas is charged with fleeing or evading police.

Police arrested Michael Thomas, 55, of Corbin on charges of second degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest and menacing after attempting to serve a warrant at the residence on Frankfort School Road.

According to the arrest citation, troopers arrived at the residence at approximately 11:45 p.m.

“When we arrive to the location, Mr. Thomas flees on foot out the side window. He sees another trooper and goes back into the house,” Trooper Michael Howell wrote in the arrest citation.

Howell stated that he saw Thomas run through the home and gave chase.

“When I got into the room he went into, I saw him climbing into the attic. All I could see was one foot. I grabbed his foot to keep him from going into the attic,” Howell stated.

Thomas fell to the ground and a struggle ensued before troopers took him into custody.

“Mr. Thomas refused to walk and went limp so that he would be dead weight. I advised him that he needed to walk, and he finally complied,” Howell stated.

Thomas was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center where he is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.
