Corbin man charged with threatening two people with hunting rifle
A Corbin man was arrested Thursday for allegedly threatening two people with a hunting rifle.
Police say 48-year-old Ronald Arnold was intoxicated when he pointed the .30-30 rifle at his brother-in-law, Anthony Cobb at the apartment the three people share on Higgins Street.
According to Corbin Police Major Rob Jones, the department’s public affairs officer, Arnold then asked Cobb if he was trying to cause problems for him?
“He stuck the rifle in Cobb’s neck,” Jones said.
When Cobb asked Melissa Arnold, his sister and Ronald Arnold’s wife, to call police, Ronald allegedly pointed the rifle at her and said, “I’ll kill you, too.”
When Melissa Arnold replied that she had done so, Ronald Arnold reportedly ran and hid in another apartment.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Kyle Trosper was the first to arrive on the scene and began the searching for Arnold. Jones said he was found in the other apartment within minutes and taken into custody.
Jones said the Arnolds are in the midst of a divorce.
“Ronald Arnold had stayed with another person that the wife and brother-in-law didn’t agree with,” Jones said when asked what sparked the incident.
Ronald Arnold was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and alcohol intoxication and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
He is being held without bond.
