Corbin man charged with rape of woman in Williamsburg
A Corbin man was arrested Thursday night for allegedly raping a woman at a Williamsburg hotel last weekend.
Williamsburg Police arrested Ronald O. Leas, 18, on charges of first-degree rape and video voyeurism.
Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird said the investigation began Monday.
“The female victim reported that she had been sexually assaulted while incapacitated on alcohol,” Bird said adding that the rape was recorded on a phone, which the police have since recovered.
Bird said there are three additional suspects in the incident. The investigation is continuing and police are anticipating additional arrests.
Bird said the victim told police she had been out drinking the night before and was pretty intoxicated.
She was reportedly aquainted with Leas and the other suspects, but was not involved in a relationship with any of them.
“We feel like they took advantage of the situation,” Bird said.
As the investigation continued, Bird said Leas became aware that he was wanted for questioning.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., Leas contacted Williamsburg Police Officer Greg Rhoades and provided his whereabouts.
“Officers did take statements from Leas,” Bird said.
Leas is being held without bond in the Whitley County Detention Center.
Williamsburg Police Officer Johnny Fulton is conducting the investigation.
