Corbin man charged with indecent exposure
A Corbin man was arrested Tuesday in Barbourville after police say he and a woman were having sexual relations in the Walmart parking lot.
Police arrested Nicholas Mandel, 39, of Corbin, and Dana Woolum, 33, of Hinkle, charging each with first-degree indecent exposure.
On January 22, Barbourville Police Patrolmen Eric Martin and Clay Helton responded to a complaint from Walmart management that a couple was having sexual relations in a vehicle parked in the parking lot. The incident was reported to Walmart management by a father and his small child who saw the two.
Upon further investigation, officers report they found Mandeland and Woolum, “having relations in the open, close to the front of the store during business hours as people entered and exited the store” and that “both individuals [were] completely naked,” reads their arrest citations.
Police asked the two to dress and step out of the vehicle. Upon exiting the vehicle, Mandel displayed “blood shot eyes and was unsteady on his feet, with slurred speech and [was] using the vehicle for balance,” reported Martin. Helton concurred that Woolum “had blood shot eyes and was unsteady on her feet,” too.
A search yielded several suspected drugs including ecstasy, methamphetamine, Adderall and marijuana, and multiple firearms found in the backseat window, in Woolum’s purse, under the driver’s seat and in the trunk.
Both were placed under arrest and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. Mandel is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense, methamphetamine), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense, drug unspecified), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carry concealed weapon by prior deadly weapon felony offender, first-degree disorderly conduct, first-degree indecent exposure (first offense), possession of marijuana, public intoxication (controlled substance) and second-degree possession of a controlled substance (amphetamine).
Woolum is charged with first-degree disorderly conduct, first-degree indecent exposure (first offense), public intoxication (controlled substance), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense, methamphetamine), second-degree possession of a controlled substance (amphetamine), third-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), possession of marijuana, prescription controlled substance not in proper container (first offense) and buy/possess drug paraphernalia.
