Corbin man arrested for setting fire to Lynn Camp home
A Corbin man faces arson and wanton endangerment charges for allegedly setting fire to Lynn Camp home early last month and then confessing to the crime.
Kentucky State Police Arson Det. Joshua Bunch arrested 18-year-old Rodney F. Carter Tuesday at around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday. Carter is charged with first-degree arson and second-degree wanton endangerment charges stemming from a June 6 fire on Calvary Church Road.
According to an arrest warrant, sworn out by Bunch on June 15, Carter allegedly set fire to a residence at 48 Calvary Church Road.
The warrant alleges that, after setting the fire, Carter went to Cope’s Country Store where he confessed to store owner Matt Cope that he had set the fire. He then asked to use the store phone to contact police.
Carter also reportedly implicated himself to other witnesses.
The wanton endangerment charge was made because there was handicapped man living in a trailer just feet from the burning house who could not escape the threat without assistance.
As of press time Tuesday, Carter was lodged in the Knox Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 cash bond.
