Corbin man arrested for armed robbery in McDonald’s parking lot

A Corbin man was arrested Sunday on charges stemming from an armed robbery in the parking lot of the McDonald’s on Master Street Thursday night.

Thirty-one-year-old Joshua Warman is facing charges of first-degree robbery and attempted first-degree robbery.

According to the Detective Bill Rose, police were called to the scene about 5:20 p.m.

The victim told police that she had been sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle when the male suspect approached and took her purse. The male was armed with a handgun. The robber attempted to take a second purse, but Rose said the woman fought back and was able to get away.

The male is described as a white, 5’11” to 6’ tall, slim build, and short hair or bald.

The victim was unable to give a description of the female. However, the suspects were captured on store security cameras, as was the SUV.

Rose said multiple anonymous tips came into the department identifying Warman as the perpetrator.

“We showed photos of Warman to the victims and they positively identified him as the robber,” Rose said.
Through further investigation, police learned Warman’s whereabouts and took him into custody about 10 p.m.

“The driver of the SUV was identified as Warman’s wife but she is not being charged,” Rose said.

Rose said Warman has not made any statements to police.

Warman is being held without bond in the Knox County Detention Center.

Warman pleaded not guilty to the charges Monday in Knox District Court. He is scheduled to return to court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing to determine whether there is probable cause to present the case to a Knox County Grand Jury.
