Corbin man arrested after allegedly robbing Laurel County bank Tuesday

Money recovered following Fox’s arrest.
A Corbin man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly robbing a Laurel County bank.
According to a release from the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department, a man entered Community Trust Bank on US25W at approximately 12:50 p.m. armed with a pistol and demanding money. Bank tellers complied with the demands and the man soon fled with an undisclosed amount of money in a red Honda Civic. The man allegedly changed clothing and ditched the vehicle before switching to a red Ford F150 pickup.
As police were attempting to learn the suspect’s identity, Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith located the possible suspect vehicle behind a residence on Moore Hill Road on the edge on the Knox County line.
Area law enforcement officers were able to surround the house and call the suspect out of the home. The man, identified as Shawn Fox, 35, exited the residence and surrendered to police without incident.
Fox was charged with first-degree robbery and placed in the Laurel County Correctional Facility.
The money Fox allegedly took from the bank and the gun used in the robbery were also both recovered.
Also assisting in the investigation and search for Fox was the Corbin Police Department and Kentucky State Police. Knox County EMS was summoned to the scene where Fox was arrested as a standby precaution.
