Corbin man accused of masquerading as a police officer
A Corbin man charged with impersonating a police officer came face to face with the real thing Monday morning.
At around 8:25 a.m., Corbin Police Major David Maiden observed a vehicle driving in a careless manner and stopped him.
According to Maiden, the suspect, 26-year-old Michael A. Christophersen of Corbin, was driving a white Ford Crown Victoria similar to a police cruiser, complete with a police cage. He also had working blue lights in the grill and blue strobe lights in the passenger areas of the car. Maiden said police had received several complaints that a man in the vehicle had been stopping vehicles and identifying himself as a police officer/sheriff’s deputy.
The suspect also had in his possession a Kansas City Police badge and ID card, a black police-type duty belt and handcuffs.
A passenger in the vehicle told police that he had observed Christophersen conduct several traffic stops and identify himself as a police officer.
Christophersen also was charged with no insurance, using license of another state, and expired registration plate.
He is set for arraignment on felony charges Thursday in Knox District Court.
