Corbin, Lynn Camp fall
The Corbin Lady Redhounds dropped their season opener on the road at Monticello Monday night, 54-47.
Corbin trailed at the end of the first quarter but outscored the Lady Trojans in the second period and led 27-24 at the half.
But, a turnover filled third quarter proved to be the difference in the game for the Lady ‘Hounds. Corbin was outscored 19-2 in the period and trailed 43-29 heading into the final eight minutes.
The Lady Redhounds did rally in the fourth quarter, outscoring Monticello, 18-11.
Kelci Jones led the Lady Redhounds with 12 points while Lyndsay Champlin tossed in 11 points.
Junior Lacey Alley led the Trojans with 21 points and sophomore guard Cortney Morrow led Monticello with 16 points.
Harlan 49, Lynn Camp 34: The Lynn Camp Lady ‘Cats got off to a slow start and never recovered in a loss to the Harlan Lady Dragons. Harlan jumped out to a 12-3 lead and never really looked back.
Lynn Camp did outscore Harlan in the second period, 12-8 and went to the dressing room down 20-15. However, the Lady ‘Cats couldn’t stop Chassidy Lawson. Lawson, who finished the night with 25 points and 11 rebounds, took control of the game in the third period as Harlan outscored Lynn Camp, 19-9.
The Lady Dragons led 39-24 going into the final eight minutes. The teams scored 10 points each in the final period.
Sophomore Charlotte McKinney came off the bench to lead the Lady Wildcats with 12 points.
Lynn Camp will be on the road Friday night to face the Williamsburg Lady Jackets in a double-header with the boys. The game is scheduled for 7:30. The Lady Wildcats will play at OBI Tuesday night.
