The Redhounds now turn their attention to Johnson Central, which beat Corbin by a score of 14-28 in a class 4A quarter final match-up played at Johnson Central in 2020.
Greer noted that one plus is the game is being played at Corbin this year.
Johnson Central leads all 4A teams in the state in scoring with 44.4 points per game. Corbin is ranked second in the state with 43.8 points scored per game. In terms of team defense, Corbin is ranked first in 4A only allowing an average of 10.3 points per game. Johnson Central ranks eighth in 4A with 15.2 points allowed per game, according to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.
Johnson Central is averaging 345 yards rushing per game while Corbin is averaging 250 yards this season. The Redhounds also average 160 yards passing per game.
“It will be two evenly matched teams. They are about 95 percent run. We will have to do a really good job taking the run away from them, if possible. It will be a good physical football game,” Greer said.
He said one of the keys to the game will be Corbin continuing to execute offensively, which it has been doing at a high rate this season.
“Defensively, we just have to be sound and not have missed tackles. They are going to run it, and with missed tackles they can get a score. We just have to executive on both sides of the football,” Greer added.
