Corbin firefighter arrested for illegally selling city property

Corbin Firefighter Eric B. Isom, 30, was arrested Monday at city hall for allegedly selling two light bars that had been seized by Corbin Police and then given to the fire department.
Corbin Police Det. William Rose began an investigation on Sept. 13 after police were contacted by members of the Corbin Fire Department.
Corbin Police Chief David Campbell said the blue light bars had been seized by police in May as part of a criminal investigation.
"We couldn’t use the light bars, so we asked the fire department if they could and they took them," Campbell said.
According to Rose, Isom picked up the light bars but kept them for himself before selling each of them for $125 to Brandon Wagers and Chad Jackson in July.
As a result of the investigation, Rose secured the warrant for Isom, which he served about 10 a.m. when Isom came to the police station to sign some papers.
Isom was charged with two counts of theft by failure to make required disposition of property valued under $500.
Rose said Isom has retained David O. Smith as his attorney and declined to make any statements on the matter.
Both light bars have been recovered, police said.
Corbin Mayor Willard McBurney, City Manager Bill Ed Cannon and Fire Chief Barry McDonald were meeting with city attorney Robert Hammons and were unavailable for comment.
Rose said it is possible Isom could face administrative charges, though that will be determined by Cannon after the criminal charges are adjudicated.

This is just another example of Corbin’s finest citizens at work doing what they all do, some get caught and some don’t, but we all know who they are and what they do. Step up and take our town back !!!!!!!!!!
What he did was definitely wrong…and he got caught. There’s a few Williamsburg firefighter’s who do a lot worse. One of them sells drugs and has for years. He’s also a convicted felon. Maybe they should do some kind of back ground check before they hire these ppl. And a drug screen wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
