Corbin falls to North Laurel
They didn’t give up the big inning against the third-ranked North Laurel Lady Jaguars, but the Corbin ladies lost 14-0 Monday night at CHS.
“We really didn’t play that bad,” said Corbin Coach Chris Hart. “I thought we played pretty good especially in the early innings.”
“We waited too late to hit the ball,” said Hart. “They have some good hitters and really exploited our weaknesses. I thought for the most part, our defense played well.”
Megan Taylor, who allowed just three hits in the win, opened with a single in the top of the first inning and scored the only run the Lady Jaguars needed to win the game.
In the second, Haley Herrell walked and later scored on a fielder’s choice for a 2-0- lead.
North Laurel added two in the third, two in the fourth then broke the game open with three in the fifth and five in the sixth.
North Laurel’s Brandy Gay hit a three-run homer in the contest.
Corbin, 4-6, will turn their attention to the Cumberland Falls Invitational Tournament this weekend. They will have several outstanding teams in the field of six including Halls High School of Knoxville and Lexington Catholic.
