Corbin couple arrested for meth lab, tried to flush evidence down toilet

A Corbin couple allegedly tried to flush a meth lab down the toilet Friday afternoon when police showed up at their door to investigate a complaint.
About 3:40 p.m., officers from three agencies went to a residence at 114 Turner Subdivision Road in Corbin to investigate a complaint about a possible meth lab, said Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell.
Harrell said that when officers showed up at the residence, they could immediately detect the "obvious smell" of methamphetamine, and that the occupants of the home allegedly tried to flush the meth lab down the toilet.
Task Force 11, which is headquartered in London and headed up by Abbey Hale, dismantled the meth lab. Police were on the scene for about two and one-half hours, Harrell said.
Police charged Sherry Lawson, 40, and Jason Swearengin, 37, with manufacture of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia,conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and tampering with physical evidence.
Both were arrested without incident, and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
Officers taking part in the investigation, include: Sheriff’s Capt. Greg Pace, Deputy Brian Lawson, Corbin Police Officer Rusty Hedrick, and Two Rivers Task Force Officer Bob O’Neil.
No one was injured during the investigation.

This is so sad for Jason. He was incarcerated in Indiana on Meth related crimes. He served his time and moved here w/ his mother. He did so well…for a while, but the draw of meth is apparently too strong for many to resist. I can’t help but wonder what went wrong for Jason. When I knew him he was a good guy who worked hard and was raising his son. I hope this will be a wake up for him and after he has paid for his crimes that he will pull his life back together and once again become a productive member of society.
That is not the Bob O’Neal from Corbin PD years ago. That is Bobby O’Neal that works for the Federal Forestry Service. He is a Federal Agent. He is nothing like Bob and is a good person even if he is Bob’s son. NOTHING ALIKE
How in God’s name did Bob O’Neil get hired as a cop again? He is one of the biggest criminals around. He has a tendency to beat on prisoners and I heard he was fired from the Whitley Co Det Center for prisoner abuse. Also check him out on http://www.pownetwork.org he is listed on the wall of shame and lies about his military background. He’s never served one day on active duty or reserve duty, according to the website their is no record of him ever serving.
