Corbin boys and girls soccer teams advance to KHSAA state championship tournaments
With a pair of regional championship victories Wednesday night, the Corbin High School boys and girls soccer teams have both qualified for an appearance in this year’s KHSAA state championship tournaments.
In boys soccer action, the Redhounds successfully defended their 13th Region championship crown with a 4-2 victory over visiting North Laurel. The win improves the Hounds to 16-6-1 on the year ahead of their upcoming state tournament appearance.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Hounds outlasted South Laurel by the final score of 2-1 at Knox Central High School in Barbourville to win their first 13th Region title since 2017. With an overall record of 16-4-1, Corbin now shifts their focus to state tournament play next week.
Both Corbin squads will face the champions out of Region 14 in the first round of the 2022 KHSAA state championship tournaments, with competition tentatively scheduled to kick off on Monday.
