Corbin Arena announces Styx concert for Jan. 6, 2023
The Corbin Arena announced Monday that the classic rock band Styx has been added to the list of upcoming shows, and are scheduled to be in town for a concert on Friday, Jan. 6.
Many local music fans likely saw Styx live ten years ago when they performed in downtown Corbin at the 60th Annual NIBROC festival in 2012. Since that time, the band has released two new albums – The Mission in 2017 and Crash of the Crown in 2021 – bringing the total count to 17 studio albums dating back to their self-titled debut in 1972.
Styx is comprised of James “JY” Young (lead vocals, guitars), Tommy Shaw (lead vocals, guitars), Chuck Panozzo (bass, vocals), Todd Sucherman (drums, percussion), Lawrence Gowan (lead vocals, keyboards) and Ricky Phillips (bass, guitar, vocals). The band originated in Chicago and enjoyed much success throughout the 70’s and 80’s with hits such as, “Lady,” “Come Sail Away,” “Renegade,” “Blue Collar Man,” “Mr. Roboto,” and “Too Much Time on My Hands.”
Tickets for An Evening With Styx will go on sale to the general public this Friday, Aug. 26, at the Corbin Arena box office and online at Ticketmaster.com.
