Contestants lose a total of 109 lbs. at most recent NIBROC Just Lose It weigh in
The NIBROC: Just lose it competition is entering into its home stretch, and though the number of contestants to step on the scales at the most recent weigh-in once again dwindled, the pounds keep coming off.
At Saturday’s week 11 weigh-in, 43 contestants, the contests fewest number yet, learned the results of their journey for fitness. One hundred and thirty-five pounds were lost, but 26 were gained leaving a 109-pound net loss. In total the competition has resulted in a net loss of 1,579 pounds by all the competitors.
Christopher Lipps was the winner of the most recent weigh-in, after dropping 10 pounds. He took home a $50 Visa gift card for his efforts.
The next weigh-in, the last before the finale, will be July 30. After this weigh-in, the top 20 will be selected based on their total percentage of weight lost, to head on to the finals. In order to be eligible to be in the top 20, competitors must weigh-in on July 30.
The competition’s, which began early May, final weigh-in will be the morning of Aug. 13, with the winner being announced later that evening during a dramatic finale on the Festival’s main stage. The contestant who loses the most weight will win the $1,000 cash prize. Other prizes will be given to finalists as well.
The competition, which is sponsored by the Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the City of Corbin, Baptist Regional Medical Center and Cumberland Healthcare Inc., was conceived by Corbin City Commissioner Joe Shelton – a local physician’s assistant who said he crafted the competition in order to help Corbin become "the healthiest community in Kentucky."
One hundred and eighty-eight people initially signed up to take part in the competition, but the number participating on the bi-weekly weigh-ins has dramatically shrunk.
