Complaint leads Knox County deputies to make drug bust in Gray

Two Gray residents were among three people arrested Monday morning after Knox County Sheriff’s deputies discovered bags of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a rifle at a residence.

Deputy William Stewart, the department’s public affairs officer, said deputies were called to the residence on Johnson Hollow Road, off of South Ky. 233, at approximately 1:40 a.m. in response to a complaint of suspected drug activity.

Deputies Mikey Ashurst and Bobby Jones responded, and through the court of the investigation discovered the plastic bags, along with several syringes, a set of digital scales, and a .22-caliber rifle.

Joseph R. Middleton, 39, and Jade Carrol 20, both of Gray, were each charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Middleton was also charged with possession of marijuana – less than 8 ounces, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Carrol was also charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, and trafficking in marijuana – less than 8 ounces.

Heather Mills, 29, of Knoxville, Tennessee, was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A fourth individual at the residence, identified as Charles Garland, 28, of Gray, was served with an outstanding warrant from the Kentucky Parole Board, charging him with parole violation.

Middleton, Carrol, Mills and Garland were all lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
