Come From Behind
Thank goodness for a bench. That’s what saved the day for Whitley County coach Larry Anderson.
“The bench saved us tonight,” said Anderson. “Our starters just never did get anything going tonight. It seemed like from the word go we just stood and watch on both ends of the court.”
Midway through the third quarter Anderson inserted several new players who responded with a 12-2 run and put Whitley County ahead for good.
Down 18-11, the Colonels rallied to come from behind and take a 23-20 lead into the final frame.
The Lady Colonels were led by Tracy and Heather Jones who scored 16 points in the final two quarters.
After a Kayla Osborne three point play pulled Whitley County within 20-17 at the 1:55 mark of the third quarter, Tracy Jones pulled Whitley within one. Heather Jones then gave the Lady Colonels the lead for good. The spree continued with two free throws by Tracy Jones.
Whitley never trailed after that. They added to the margin in the fourth quarter.
