COLONELS ROLL

The Whitley County Colonels picked up a non-district win over the Lynn Camp Wildcats Friday night at Colonels Stadium, 62-13.

The Colonels (1-1) scored often in the first half building a 48-0 lead with :57 left in the second quarter.

There was a little of everything out of the Colonels scoring summary. Cody Bramlett scored on a running play while Justin Goins scored on a pass from Travis Inman. Senior lineman Jake Rhoades scored when he picked up a blocked punt and ran it in from 15 yards out. Goins, a senior scored on an interception return of 42 yards.

Whitley County took a 21-0 lead in the first quarter when Bramlett, Goins and Rhoades scored.

Goins scored on the first play of the second quarter when Inman hit the senior wide receiver on a 5-yard pass. After a three-and-out, it took the Colonels just two plays before Jordan Singleton went 40 yards on a score. Seth McCoy added the PAT for a 34-0 lead.

Goins grabbed his interception return on the ensuing Lynn Camp possession. Bowlin scored with just under a minute left in the half to push the lead to 47 points. McCoy sent the Colonels to the dressing room with a 48-0 lead when he hit the PAT.

Each team scored twice in the second half. Whitley County made it 55-0 with 5:53 in the third quarter when Jordan Chute scored from three yards out.

Dylan Rose got the Wildcats on the scoreboard early in the fourth quarter on a one-yard plunge with 9:40 left in the game.

Scottie Partin added a touchdown with 1:47 in the contest and McCoy added the extra point. On the kickoff, Lynn Camp senior Jared Ammon ran past the Colonels’ defense for an 85-yard return. The PAT was good and proved to be the final score.

The Colonels will have the week off before heading to Bell County, Sept. 10. It doesn’t get any easier for Lynn Camp as the Wildcats host defending Class A champion, Lexington Christian Friday night.
