Colonel Blowout
The Whiltley County Colonels didn’t waste anytime in beating up the Evarts Wildcats Monday afternoon, 17-0 in five innings.
Freshman pitcher Jordan McCumbers allowed just one hit in the opening inning to Franklie Middleton then the rout was on. Jeremy Taylor reached on a basehit before Evarts’ Napuer hit the next two batters to load the bases. Ryna Fox belted a two-run single to get the Colonels on the scoreboard.
Napier reloaded the bases when he hit on Bowman with a pitch. Evarts replaced its starter with third baseman, Monhollen.
Schrenker had a fieder’s choice that drove iin Fox fo the four-run lead.
The Colonels scored seven runs in the bottom of the inning as Fox hit a three-run homer to push the lead out to 7-0. Nelson also had a three-run single in the inning.
Five runs crossed the plate in the bottom of the third as the Colonels hit the long ball. Bowman, Schrenker and Rider all had consecutive triples.
The Colonels split in action earlier in the week. They were able to beat the Southwestern Warriors 6-3 but lost to Harlan 6-5.
Whitley County will host Southwestern Pulaski Thursday before holding their own invitational tournament this weekend.
Whitley County, Williamsburg, Campbell County and Lee County will play in the Colonel Classic.
